ChartDirector Upgrade and Subscription

ChartDirector
Upgrade and Subscription only. To upgrade or subscribe for ChartDirector, you need
to have an existing ChartDirector license. If you want to purchase the full license,

Do I need to purchase an upgrade or subscription?

All ChartDirector licenses include 1 year software subscription. This means you
can upgrade to all ChartDirector versions released within 1 year of your purchase
free of charge.

Furthermore, we offer 1 major version upgrade to all ChartDirector licensees free
of charge. For example, if you have purchased ChartDirector Ver 4.x, you may upgrade
to ChartDirector Ver 5.x free of charge, even if it is after the 1 year software
subscription period.

If your license is covered by the free upgrade, you do not need to purchase anything
to upgrade. Your existing license key will work with the ChartDirector versions that
you can upgrade to. You may simply download the latest version from our
download page. Please remember to read the
release notes for upgrade considerations.

If you are not sure of the version or purchase date of your license, you may email
your license key to info@advsofteng.net
and enquire for the issue date and version. You may also just download ChartDirector
to check if it accepts the key.
What is included in the "ChartDirector Upgrade and Subscription"?

The "ChartDirector Upgrade and Subscription" extends the software subscription period
of the original license by 1 year, and increase the license version by 1.

For example, if you purchased ChartDirector Ver 3.x on May-1-2004, you are entitled up to
ChartDirector Ver 4.x, and the software subscription expires on May-1-2005. A
"ChartDirector Upgrade and Subscription" allows you to use up to ChartDirector Ver 5.x,
and extends the software subscription to May-1-2006.

Multiple units of "ChartDirector Upgrade and Subscription" can be used together to
increase the license by mulitple versions, and to extend the software subscription to
multiple years. For example, if you purchased ChartDirector Ver 2.x, you are entited
up to ChartDirector Ver 3.x. You may purchase 2 units of "ChartDirector Upgrade and
Subscription" to increase the version to 5.x.
My software subscription expired sometime ago. Can I purchase the
"ChartDirector Upgrade and Subscription" now?

Yes. Note that the software subscription extension is calculated based on the date
that your previous software subscription expired, not on the purchase date of the
"ChartDirector Upgrade and Subscription". For example, if your previous software
subscription has expired on Mar-1-2004, a "ChartDirector Upgrade and Subscription"
will extend the software subscription to Mar-1-2005, no matter when you purchase the
"ChartDirector Upgrade and Subscription".

If your software subscription expired long time ago, it is possible the subscription
is still expired after purchasing a "ChartDirector Upgrade and Subscription". In
this case, the "ChartDirector Upgrade and Subscription" may still be useful because
of the version upgrade it provides.
Can I purchase ChartDirector software subscription in advance?

Yes. Note that your original ChartDirector license already includes 1 year of
software subscription. If you need N years of software subscription, you may purchase
(N - 1) units of "ChartDirector Upgrade and Subscription".
How much is a unit of "ChartDirector Upgrade and Subscription"?

It is 25% of the price of a full license, rounded to the nearest dollar.

For example, the price for a "ChartDirector Developer License for All Platforms" is
USD 149. The price for the "ChartDirector Upgrade and Subscription" for that license
is USD 149 x 0.25 = USD 37 (rounded to the nearest dollar).
Operationally, how does the "ChartDirector Upgrade and Subscription"
system work?

When you purchase a "ChartDirector Upgrade and Subscription", we will deliver an
"extension license key" to you by email. In addition, a paper license certificate
and a paper receipt will be delivered by post. There is no other shipment. The
software can always be downloaded from our download page.

By appending the "extension license key" to your original license key, the license
key version will be increased by 1, and the license key date will be extended by 1 year.

Multiple extension license keys can be appended to your original license key to
increase it by multiple versions, and to extend the license key date by multiple
years.
Do I still need the old license key?

Yes. An extension license key only extends the version and date of a full license
key. An extension license key cannot work by itself. Please keep your existing
license key.
What type of upgrade license do I have?

The type of "ChartDirector Upgrade and Subscription" must match the type of your
existing license, otherwise the extension license key will not work with your
existing license key. For example, if your existing license is a "ChartDirector
Redistribute License for Windows/Linux/FreeBSD", you will need to the
"ChartDirector Upgrade and Subscription" for "ChartDirector Redistribute License
for Windows/Linux/FreeBSD".

If your license was purchased before Aug 8, 2002, it was just called "ChartDirector Developer License"
or "ChartDirector Redistribute License", without any platform name. They are equivalent to
"ChartDirector Developer License for Windows/Linux/FreeBSD" and "ChartDirector Redistribute License
for Windows/Linux/FreeBSD".

Similarly, the license types "ChartDirector Developer License for Solaris" and "ChartDirector
Redistribute License for Solaris" were renamed and are equivalent to "ChartDirector Developer
License for All Platforms" and "ChartDirector Redistribute License for All Platforms".
