Purchasing ChartDirector Upgrades
This page is for purchasing ChartDirector upgrades only. ChartDirector upgrades require
you to have existing ChartDirector license keys. If you want to purchase the full license,
please go to our main purchase page.
To ensure you purchase the correct upgrade license(s), you may
want to read the information below.
Do I need to purchase upgrade licenses?
All ChartDirector licenses include at least 1 year guaranteed free upgrade. ASE has
decided that ChartDirector licenses purchased on or after Apr 1, 2003 can upgrade to
ChartDirector Ver 4.1 free of charge.
If you purchased ChartDirector on or after Apr 1, 2003, there is no need to purchase
upgrade licenses now. ChartDirector Ver 4.1 will automatically recognize license keys
issued on or after Apr 1, 2003. You may simply download the latest version from our
download page. Please remember to read the
release notes for upgrade considerations.
If your licenses are purchased before Apr 1, 2003, you will need to purchase upgrade
licenses to use ChartDirector Ver 4.1.
If you are not sure when your licenses were issued, you may email your license keys
to info@advsofteng.com and request for the
issue dates of the keys, or you may just download ChartDirector Ver 4.1 and check if
it accepts the keys.
What type of upgrade license do I need?
The type of upgrade license must match the type of your existing license, or otherwise the license
key may not work. For example, if your existing license is "ChartDirector Redistribute License for
Windows/Linux/FreeBSD", you will need "ChartDirector Redistribute License for Windows/Linux/FreeBSD
Upgrade to Ver 4".
Note that throughout the years, the names of the ChartDirector licenses changed due to
expanded platform support.
If your license was purchased before Aug 8, 2002, it was just called "ChartDirector Developer License"
or "ChartDirector Redistribute License", without any platform name. They are equivalent to
"ChartDirector Developer License for Windows/Linux/FreeBSD" and "ChartDirector Redistribute License
for Windows/Linux/FreeBSD".
Similarly, the license types "ChartDirector Developer License for Solaris" and "ChartDirector Redistribute
License for Solaris" were renamed and are equivalent to "ChartDirector Developer License for All
Platforms" and "ChartDirector Redistribute License for All Platforms".
If you are not sure what license type you have, it can be determined by the first few characters of the

What is covered by the upgrade licenses?
The upgrade licenses will allow your existing licenses to apply to ChartDirector Ver 4.
Furthermore, the upgrade licenses include 1 year free upgrade, which means you will receive
free upgrade for one more year.
How much is the upgrade price?
It is 25% of the price of a new license (this price has never changed since the first version
of ChartDirector). For example, for a single "ChartDirector Developer License for All Platforms",
the price for a new license is USD 149. The upgrade price is therefore USD 149 x 0.25 = USD 37
(rounded to the nearest dollar).
What will be delivered for an upgrade license?
An upgrade license key will be delivered by email. The license key will also be printed on a paper
license and delivered by postal mail, together with a paper receipt. There is no other physical
deliveries. The software can always be downloaded from
our download page.
Do I still need the old license key?
Yes. An upgrade license key will work only if appended to an old license key. An upgrade
license key cannot work by itself. Please keep your existing license keys.
